I have finally managed to get my stuff together and design a website where I can upload samples of my work and create a general space to keep all of my inspiration on one page. Please pay it a visit to see what I've been up too! http://ladesigns.typepad.com/ladesigns/

Awesome print advertising campaign
When I came across this ad campaign I just had to pause for a moment due to its pure AWESOMENESS (ha ha ha). The message is simple... bench fix, a line of hairstyling products, offers you a superior hold. The art direction of the shots as well as the concept and execution are just perfect in my opinion! No wonder this campaign received some mad recognition from "Adds of the World" - which I hope every designer has visited at least once!

Famous brands & how they got their name!
Brands form a huge part of our every day lives, whether we realise it or not! We have even turned them into verbs such as the famous "just google it". Have you ever wondered how various brands got their names? I have and was therefore happy when i stumbled upon an article about it (http://stocklogos.com/topic/how-famous-companies-got-their-names). Below you will find a few that I found interested and if you'd like to read about the other just click on the link above!
Nike is actually the name of the Greek Goddess of Victory and the "swoosh" symbolises her flight.
The name Lego is actually a combination of the Danish "Leg Godt" which means to "play well". It also means "I put together" in Latin but apparently the Lego Group claims that this is only a coincidence.
Reebok is a nice South African one and originates from the Afrikaans spelling
of "Rhebok" which is a type of African Antelope.

This brand's original concept was "sky-peer-to-peer" which then later
morphed into "skyper" and ended up being "skype".

Sony was derived from the Latin word "Sonus" which means sound and "Sonny" which is a slang word used by the Americans to refer to a bright youngster.
Starbucks was named after "Starbuck" - a character
in Herman Melville's novel Moby-Dick.

AWESOME advertising
The text on the advert reads:
(Left Brain)
“I am the left brain. I am a scientist. A mathematician. I love the
familiar. I categorize. I am accurate. Linear. Analytical. Strategic. I
am practical. Always in control. A master of words and language.
Realistic. I calculate equations and play with numbers. I am order. I am
logic. I know exactly who I am.”
(Right Brain)
“I am the right brain. I am creativity. A free spirit. I am passion.
Yearning. Sensuality. I am the sound of roaring laughter. I am taste.
The feeling of sand beneath bare feat. I am movement. Vivid colors. I am
the urge to paint on an empty canvas. I am boundless imagination. Art.
Poetry. I sense. I feel. I am everything I wanted to be.”
