Old Mac Daddy - luxury trailer park!

Just when you think you've seen it all then WAM... another bit of awesomeness dashes through your space. One such awesome find is the "Old Mac Daddy" luxury trailer park! The concept is brilliant and leaves you thinking dam, why didn't I think of that ha ha ha! This park can be found in the Elgin Valley and has become one of my "I'm so going there" places.

Each trailer was handed over to an artist, designer or creative (all whom are Cape Town locals) to conceptualize. The general public was called in to vote and so the team of creatives was chosen to start on their various trailers. The themes are vast and exquisitely executed. I love the way in which your brain wants to say "but that's so kitch" and then you just LLLOOOOVVVEEEE it anyway. They boast with a designer barn, kid's playroom and restaurant as a communal area.

Old Mac Daddy is the proud owner of a Golden Lourie Award (2011) in the entertainment/sports/leisure catagory (super wow) and I believe they will be the highlight of many a visitors for years to come! Well done, you've made us proud and YOU GO SA!!

I'm LOVING this!

These "time out" chairs are SUPER AWESOME!!! The concept is both playful and practical and when I have kids one day I'll be scouting for one of these. No negotiating as to "how much longer", simply look for yourself ha ha ha!

On the site they have the following to say...
Sometimes it's just too hard to punish your kids because they're so darn cute! However, our time out stool may have them volunteering. The hourglass is filled with white sand to time approximately five minutes, so you'll know exactly when their time out has expired. The base is made of durable mango wood. Not a toy. For children only with adult supervision. Maximum weight is 150 lbs.

Famous brands & how they got their name!

Brands form a huge part of our every day lives, whether we realise it or not! We have even turned them into verbs such as the famous "just google it". Have you ever wondered how various brands got their names? I have and was therefore happy when i stumbled upon an article about it (http://stocklogos.com/topic/how-famous-companies-got-their-names). Below you will find a few that I found interested and if you'd like to read about the other just click on the link above!

Nike is actually the name of the Greek Goddess of Victory and the "swoosh" symbolises her flight.

The name Lego is actually a combination of the Danish "Leg Godt" which means to "play well". It also means "I put together" in Latin but apparently the Lego Group claims that this is only a coincidence.

Reebok is a nice South African one and originates from the Afrikaans spelling
of "Rhebok" which is a type of African Antelope.

This brand's original concept was "sky-peer-to-peer" which then later
morphed into "skyper" and ended up being "skype".

Sony was derived from the Latin word "Sonus" which means sound and "Sonny" which is a slang word used by the Americans to refer to a bright youngster.

Starbucks was named after "Starbuck" - a character
in Herman Melville's novel Moby-Dick.

Vodafone comes from Voice + Date + Telefone!
